Margaretha Hoek MA is a Registered Clinical Counsellor and member of the BC College of Teachers. She is a Global level trainer and facilitator in WAGGGS, where she teaches adult education skills at the international level.

She is an Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Medicine, University of BC, a position she has held since 2002. She regularly teaches in community education and health education programs, and is a long time volunteer for Girl Guides of Canada.

Margaretha also holds the 'DM2' qualification, having had diabetes for over 25 years. She gives workshops, counsels and coaches on overcoming emotional barriers and gaining the practical skills for a healthy life with diabetes. For the past three years she has facilitated a Diabetes Support Group in her community.  Her current interests include using the internet to reach a wider audience for seminars and groups.
